Planning an event

Counting down to an event?

At times like this we all imagine events on lazy hazy days with fluttering butterflies and swallows swooping low. Event planning running as expected and a perfect event just waiting to happen...

In reality? Well maybe things can be slightly more frantic with a little panic from time to time during a long busy day...

How do we stay cool, calm and collected?

Be prepared (I know it's easy for me to say, but funnily enough I can be well prepared for external events, even if I'm not in my own life!) Think things through, be clever and plan thoroughly - that way you can relax and enjoy your event or wedding without rushing about like a mad person...

Best advice?

Make lists - there's nothing like ticking things off on a list as you achieve them, it's a wonderful feeling.

Sit down with a cuppa at the start of your planning and think the day of your event through in your head. What are your key priorities? Important time checks - what has to happen when? Once the main details and key time checks have been determined it is sometimes easier to work backwards, planning what needs to be in place when to achieve these deadlines.

Help!

Don't be afraid to ask for help - again I know that it's easy for me to say as I always prefer to do things myself so it's is done properly, but even I have to delegate sometimes!

You will find that there are always people that are willing to help you out if you actually ask - and sometimes it's well worth taking the time to show them what you would like done, rather than trying to cope yourself and running out of steam!

So, don't feel that you have to do everything, learn to delegate, write lists and stop every now and again to take a breath - that way you will find that you end up with a fabulous event that you can enjoy, rather than miss out on everything because you are rushing about and panicking.

Tell me, what are your tips for coping with planning a busy event?
